Mexico - Fernando And Maricarmen Lima (Catimor, Marsellesa, Mundo Novo, Typica Washed) (Red Apple, Sweet Lemon, Carmel, Black Tea, Rhubarb, Citrus)
Personal note: I found this amazing coffee supplier through searching for the perfect Mexican coffee to be my first single origin Mexico coffee offered! This farm cares about the quality of the coffee and it shows in the final roasted product! I am so grateful to have found Lima coffee and I am looking forward to working with them in the future.
Located amidst the fertile volcanic lands of Puebla, Mexico, Tlatlauquitepec (also known as Tlatlauqui), has a rich heritage in coffee cultivation. Since the late 19th century, immigrants to the area recognized the region's perfect blend of soil and climate for growing exceptional coffee beans. Passed down through generations, the art of coffee cultivation in this area has become synonymous with the region's identity.
Despite challenges in the late 20th century, including nationwide governmental, political, and socioeconomic factors, Tlatlauquitepec's dedication to coffee quality remains intact. Today, it stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of its people and their commitment to preserving artisanal practices that reflect the region's eclectic culture and deep-rooted love for coffee.
Farm’s History
The coffee is sourced from farms that honor traditional methods, like Rancho Santa Fe, established in 1950. At Rancho Santa Fe and nearby farms, farmers deeply respect the land and prioritize authenticity. They rely on proven traditional practices such as natural shaded agriculture and recirculating water. Through their intimate understanding of the land, they cultivate a strong connection with nature, consistently producing exceptional coffee beans year after year. Fernando and Mari Carmen Lima, the proud owners, took the reins just two years ago, inheriting the farm from Maria Carmen's family. With a lifetime spent immersed in the coffee industry, they bring a wealth of experience to the table. Their recent endeavor involves pioneering direct trade for export, aiming to invigorate the local coffee scene and uplift the community by offering fair wages to farmers. Their mission is to revitalize our once-struggling industry, bringing new opportunities to our rural area.
