Café UBA is a group of coffee producers located in the heart of the coffee cultural landscape, created by third-generation coffee growers who are passionate about the flavors and aromas of specialty coffees and interested in recreational aspects of coffee such as: its preparation, enjoyment and sharing. We take care of the production of 100% Colombian specialty coffees, sustainably sourced and responsibly made.

To evolve and complement our knowledge in the area of exotic coffee production, La Riviera was born. A farm of experiences and sensations, selected as a producer of one of the best exotic coffees in Colombia. Finca La Riviera is a mixture of talents for the selection of the best beans, the respect and assurance of each process, as well as the commitment to bring to the table, a unique cup of coffee with aromas and flavors that express in the palate all the complexity, the beauty of the landscape and the coffee culture.

The Sudán Rumé variety from finca La Riviera produced by Julio Madrid has been stablished for eleven years, this varie- ty is characterized by a copper color in the leaves, is a tall plant with elongated cherries, and this variety belongs to an Ethiopian Sudán family

Sudan Rume (sometimes called Rume Sudan) is a coffee variety that’s believed to predate the cultivation of Bourbon and Typica. The reason it’s less popular than these more popular strains is due to its low commercial production. But it brings something also as important to the table: it’s is much more resistant to disease! That makes Sudan Rume a prime candidate for hybrid varieties, the most famous of which is SL-28 which is most commonly associated with Kenyan coffee. These days, Sudan Rume is making a comeback as a single variety because as it turns out, it’s super tasty! But thanks to its low production, it’s still a pretty rare fine as a single variety.

When naturally processed, Sudan Rume typically tastes like a blend of Ethiopian and Yemen coffee, which makes perfect sense considering its heirloom heritage. This lot is a prime example.
